Breast Enlargement Risks

• May make it more difficult to detect breast cancer
• Capsular contracture- hardening of the tissue around the implant
• Loss of feeling in the nipples or tissue of the breast- caused by nerve damage ( usually temporary but in some cases is permanent)
• Difference in size or shape between the two breasts after surgery
• Changes to the implants themselves- Damage can occur. Another surgery may be needed to remove and replace the implant when damaged.
• Infection- Rare but if it happens usually in the first week following surgery
• Hematoma- Collection of blood under the skin- Again rare
• Abnormal scarring-Fairly rare
